What to Expect

From First Measurement to First Ride

A curved stairlift isn't pulled off a shelf — your rail is measured, drawn, and hand-built for your staircase alone. Here's exactly how the process works, start to finish.

Free In-Home Consultation

A mobility specialist walks your staircase with you, takes precise measurements of every turn and landing, and talks through indoor vs. outdoor, seat options, and which side to mount on. You'll leave with an exact quote — no cost, no obligation.

About 1 hour

Your Rail Is Hand-Crafted

Your measurements go to Bruno, where the rail is fabricated to order — bent and welded to follow your exact angles with no modular joints. This is the step that makes a curved lift fit like it was built into the house, and it's why the wait is worth it.

Several weeks

Professional Installation

Our factory-trained technicians mount the rail to your stair treads — not your walls — so there's no structural work and no damage to your staircase. Most curved installations are finished in a single visit.

A few hours

Training & Ongoing Service

Before we leave, we walk you and your family through operating the lift, the swivel seat, the remote calls, and the battery backup. After that, Altamira handles service and maintenance for the life of your stairlift.

Ways to Pay for a Curved Stairlift

Depending on your individual situation, VA benefits, financing, insurance, state programs, or other assistance may provide options for qualifying accessibility needs. Coverage and eligibility vary by program.

VA Benefits for Veterans

HISA does not cover stairlifts or stair glides. Medically necessary stair-glide equipment may instead be furnished through VA Prosthetic & Sensory Aids Service when prescribed and authorized, depending on the Veteran's medical need and eligibility. Veterans with certain qualifying service-connected disabilities may also qualify for SAH or SHA disability housing grants for broader home adaptations. Whether a particular stairlift or home adaptation qualifies depends on the Veteran's eligibility, medical need, and VA authorization. Our guide to the differences between HISA, SAH, and SHA explains these programs in more detail. As a Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Business, Altamira has served 25,000+ Veterans.

Monthly Financing

Financing is available for qualified buyers on eligible purchases, allowing you to spread the cost across monthly payments rather than paying the full amount up front. We'll review available financing options and terms during your free consultation.

Other Funding Sources

Depending on your situation, state waiver programs, Area Agency on Aging assistance, long-term care insurance, or nonprofit grants may help offset the cost. Original Medicare generally does not cover stairlifts — our complete funding guide reviews additional potential options.

Talk Through Your Options — Free Consultation

Eligibility, award amounts, coverage, and authorization requirements vary by program and individual circumstances. Altamira can help identify potential options, but final determinations are made by the VA, insurer, financing provider, or administering agency. Have questions before you book? Common Questions

Curved Stairlift Model FAQ

Why is there only one curved stairlift model?

Unlike straight stairlifts, every curved rail is hand-crafted to precisely match your own staircase's turns, bends, and landings — so there's no off-the-shelf "size" to choose between. Bruno's Elite Curve is their single curved rail platform, available for indoor or outdoor installation, with your specific rail fabricated to order.

What's the difference between the indoor and outdoor Elite Curve?

Both share the same 400 lb capacity and hand-crafted rail approach. The outdoor version (CRE-2110E) adds marine-grade vinyl upholstery, durable powder-coat paint, and a weather-resistant cover, and is tested for 0°F to 125°F. Because of that added exposure, it carries a 5-Year Limited Warranty rather than the indoor model's Limited Lifetime Warranty.

How long does a curved stairlift take to install?

Longer than a straight lift, since the rail is custom-fabricated to your staircase rather than assembled from stock rail sections. After Altamira measures your stairs, expect several weeks of lead time for the rail to be hand-crafted before installation, which typically takes a few hours once the rail arrives.

How much does a curved stairlift cost?

Indoor curved stairlifts generally range from $10,000 to $17,000 installed, while outdoor curved stairlifts generally range from $11,000 to $18,000 installed. Final pricing depends on rail length, the number of turns and landings, selected options, installation requirements, and site conditions. Altamira can provide an exact quote after a free in-home consultation and measurement.

Can a curved stairlift be moved to a different home?

No. Because each rail is custom-fabricated to the exact contours of one staircase, curved stairlifts are not intended for relocation the way a straight stairlift can be.

Does the curved stairlift work during a power outage?

Yes. Both the indoor and outdoor Bruno Elite Curve use rechargeable batteries and can continue operating for multiple trips during a power outage while sufficient battery charge remains. The batteries charge when the stairlift is parked at designated charging points at the top or bottom of the rail, and an optional mid-rail charging point may be added for certain configurations.

Which side of the staircase can the stairlift be mounted on?

The Elite Curve can be mounted on either side of your staircase, and the rail is fabricated to match whichever side works best for your entry and exit points at the top and bottom landings.
